A greyhound with a Star Rating indicates that it is capable of getting away from the traps quickly with sprint capabilities to hit the first bend before all others and to maintain a good speed over the remainder of the race. This combined ability indicates a strong contender.

Analysing a greyhound race manually can be very time-consuming but to analyse the many cards covering Grade A or Grade S available each day is nigh-on impossible if resorting to pen and paper.
